Made by a small factory in Japan

OUROBOROS is the own brand of Maruhachi Kasei, a plastics maker in Aichi, Japan with 50 years of experience in automotive parts. The luminous pigment is mixed into a high-strength resin, so the glow can never peel off.

The S-shaped carabiner was crowdfunded in Japan at 3,418% of its goal by 1,766 backers, and won an Excellence Award at Japan's 5th Disaster Prevention Goods Awards.

  • Glowing S-shaped carabiners on a key ring

A glow that cannot peel off

The pigment is inside the resin, not painted on. Charge it with sunlight, a room light or an LED, as many times as you like.

  • The clip lifting a 25 kg dumbbell in the maker test

    Tougher than it looks

The clip holds 25 kg and the S-shaped carabiner 50 kg (maker's figures). In the maker's test, the clip lifts a 25 kg dumbbell.

  • Clip glowing on an emergency bag

    For camping, and for blackouts

Mark your gear at a dark campsite, or find your emergency bag the moment the power goes out.

Questions

I live outside Japan. How do I order?

Use the international purchasing service shown on this site. It buys the item for you, receives it in Japan and forwards it to your country. International shipping, the service fee and any customs duties are charged by that service.

How long does it glow?

It is brightest right after charging and stays visible in the dark for a few hours. You can recharge it any number of times, and the glow never wears off.

Can I use it outdoors in the rain?

Yes. The resin and the stainless steel parts stand up to rain and outdoor use. It is not made for diving.

Can I use it for climbing?

No. These are gear holders, not life-safety equipment. Never use them for climbing or work at height.

Where do you ship from?

From Japan. Sorry, we cannot ship to Taiwan or Singapore.
